Pain Control Therapy

Chronic pain imposes severe physical, emotional, intellectual, and economic stresses on patients, their families, and society as a whole. While medications are usually effective for relieving short–term or acute pain, they are often not satisfactory for treating long–term back pain, headaches, arthritis, neuralgia, and other chronic pain syndromes.

Fortunately, we have found that many patients with these problems can be helped by a personalized program that may include acupuncture, biofeedback, electrotherapy, guided imagery, nutritional therapy, and self-management instruction. Based on our work at UCLA, nearly nine out of ten of our patients report significant pain relief and overall improvement as result of this program.
